LESSON 2: UNITY

Back to Lessons on Loving Others

Look Back

  • What are you thankful for?  What is causing you stress?
    • How did you deal with conflict and forgive others this week?

Look up

Maintaining the Unity of the Spirit

  • Read Ephesians 4:1-3. Unity comes from being Spirit led.

  • How do we know if the Spirit is leading? Galatians 5

  • How can we make every effort to maintain that unity?

  • Ephesians 5:15-21. Why is submitting to one another a sign of being filled with the Spirit? Who are we really submitting to?

  • Ephesians 6:10-12,18. Every decision is always yours to make.

  • How would praying with others to confirm the Spirit’s leading protect you from bad decisions?

DECISION-MAKING: We unite around Jesus and his will.

  • PRAY – Seek the Head of the Church. What is your will?

  • SHARE – What is the Spirit revealing from the Word?

    • Is this a matter where God gives people freedom to choose (personal preference)?

  • DISCERN
    • Are we seeing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives?

    • Is there unity? Do we all believe the Spirit is leading in this decision? If no, wait or a different direction?

Look Forward

  • What are you doing well?

  • What do you need to change?

  • Set Goal: Commit to praying through major decisions with your discipleship group and allow the Spirit time bring unity.
